My name is David Bunker, I use 3913.co.uk as the shop window for my web site design and development work.
I usually work on my own, sometimes calling on fellow freelancers with specialist skills to help out, working from home, escaping from the rat race, all pretty idyllic, apart from the erratic income and workload!
Although I'm based near Canterbury, Kent, U.K. and primarily work with clients from around the U.K. I also work for clients based in the U.S.A., Canada, China & Spain.
That's one of the great things about modern technology, I can work for a client almost anywhere, from home.
Sometime I may meet with the client, but often communicating by telephone, Skype and email is all that's needed.
Sometimes I work for the client direct, other times I freelance for other design companies doing the back-end coding.
Not all the sites I design are orange, usually clients want more subtle colours, but this is my site so I decided that Orange is good. I also had a bit of fun with the fisheye menu system.
I try to speak English rather than geeky techno babble. I may find the complexity of web design programming interesting, but I'm fully aware you probably don't.
Getting a new web site onto the internet requires four basic steps:
Domain name
Design and coding
Hosting
Maintenance
Actually I've missed the fifth and most important step a chequebook, you can tell I'm not much of a businessman.
