A site that isn't maintained creates a negative image for your business.

Your site should be maintained with new information, photos, news etc. It should reflect the current products and services you offer.

As part of your Internet strategy allow for continual updating and development of your site.

I charge a fee each year, initially based on an estimate of how much time I'm likely to spend keeping your site fresh.

New pages can be added or extra features included as ongoing development.

This fee also includes hosting.

If you need a large amount of work doing in one year I might suggest you pay me some more money! 

Generally that isn't the case but a complete rewrite would not be counted as maintenance. 

I use MODx, a Content Management System, for many of the sites I design.
Some of the key benefits to clients are:

• Editing - Quickly edit your web pages from your internet browser from anywhere.
• Post News - Easily add, delete or edit the news items in minutes to keep your site fresh.
• File Upload - Upload files directly from your PC to a web folder for use by visitors to your site.
• File Listing - Used to list all files in a folder can be used with File Uploader to list resources.
• Galleries Create - online galleries by simply uploading the pictures, the rest is automatic!

These features would usually be restricted to a manager group and accessed via your web browser from any location by the simple log in system.

Unlike many Content Management Systems, MODx allows complete flexibility in the layout of the web site. By encouraging the client to update the site it also helps to keep the ongoing costs down!
