The CMS you've never heard of
I came across MODx Evolution over four years ago and loved it's lightweight approach, flexibility and friendly community.
Although MODx has fewer out of the box modules for instant deployment compared to some systems, it does offer complete flexibility and customisation.
About 50% of my time is spent on contract custom coding work for MODx Evolution installations. I have completed work for sites in China, Canada, U.S.A. and all over the U.K. The types of work I have covered to date include:
- Menu design and Wayfinder customisation
- WC3 validation work
- Template conversion
- Custom database coding
- Ditto tagging and searching functionality
- jQuery integrations and customisations
- Custom XML data output/input
- Module & Plugin development
- Manager functionality customisation
If there is anything you'd like me to have a look at or quote on, please get in touch, I'm always interested in new projects & contacts.
I will be adding a sub domain for MODx Evolution specific demos & code as soon as I can.
Wordpress, the ultimate blog
Mostly I use MODx because it easily meets the projects needs, but sometimes a specialist blog platform is required.
No doubts, 100% sure, unquestionably the best blog tool is Wordpress. A few of the features :
- Comments
- Categories
- Custom tagging
- Date archives
- Trackbacks
- Simple admin interface
- Huge range of plugins
Want the best of both?
It's quite possible to make a 'light' integration of MODx Evolution & Wordpress.
There are several possible approaches, but a relatively easy method I've used a few times allows for :
- MODx template/style into Wordpress
- MODx menu structure into Wordpress
- MODx xml content into Wordpress
- Wordpress post summaries into MODx
